Shout-Out: Fort Wayne (East Central Neighborhood)

Since Late Fall 2023, I serve as the project manager for Shout-Out: Fort Wayne, an initiative through the City of Fort Wayne/Public Art Commission that celebrates historic neighborhoods through temporary (Series 1) and permanent (Series 2) art installations.

For the East Central (EC) neighborhood, I produced a series of narrative street banners and an audio documentary that celebrates the legacy of the historic EC, focused around three of the hubs of the area: The African-American museum, Hanna Homestead Park, and the Jennings Center for recreation (below). Taglines were developed by Reppard Horne, Executive Director of the East Wayne Street Center.

The audio documentary can be heard by clicking HERE.

Artist Brandon Coley illustrated the banners, along with collaborating with children at the Jennings Center on an activity book that celebrates their legacies, along with the history of the East Central.

Our second community activity was a Creative Job Fair. Businesses and artists participated in a speed dating networking event, priortizing personal history and perspectives to find common ground.

We concluded Series 1 for Shout-Out: Fort Wayne with an exhibit at the downtown ACPL, along with a summary from the Harvester side, from Oct. 2024 to Dec. 2024.
